Van Dijk “likely” to return for Liverpool this season.
The most important piece of Jurgen Kloop’s central defence, Virgil Van Dijk may still feature for Liverpool this season despite suffering a nasty injury some weeks ago.
The Dutch stalwart ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the Merseyside derby last month.
After undergoing successful surgery, van Dijk has now begun soft impact training.
Its the early phase of his recovery, he still some months away from full recovery.
But the Reds will greet this news with great pleasure amid a severe injury crisis that has left Joel Matip as the only fit senior defender at the club.
There are no confirmed assurances that Van Dijk will play a part in the remainder of this season.
Nevertheless, his timely return to light training is a huge boost for Liverpool
Joe Gomez is set to miss the rest of this term after sustaining an injury on international duty with England.
And Fabinho who has provided cover in that area is a doubt for this weekend’s game.
Liverpool are not the only team in the league that has a fast growing injury list.
Coupled with Corona virus that has ensured some key absentees in recent weeks.
That has maybe contributed to the swiftness in reverting back to five substitution.
