Teemu Pukki is a star in the making, City are not unbeatable and Aguero is in a league of his own
Norwich City were missing 11 players and named 2 goalkeepers on the bench as they welcomed Manchester City to Carrow road.
Going into the game, the probability of Norwich City coming out top in the game would have been next to impossible but I guess the home team took a queue from the popular saying “impossible is nothing”.
Emiliano Buendia delivered a good cross from a corner that was met by the head of Kenny McLean and Teemu Pukki threaded the ball to Cantwell after Rodri was robbed of the ball in the midfield to put Daniel Flarke’s men two-nil up in the first 28 minutes.
Sergio Aguero halved the deficit on the stroke of half-time to equal Wayne Rooney and Antonio Reyes’ record of scoring in the first five Pl games of the season. The Citizens continued to threatened but Pukki was having none of it as he scored his 8th goal of the season for club and country to restore Norwich’s 2-goal lead. Rodri’s strike reduced the deficit late-on in the match but it was not enough to extend Manchester City’s 18-match unbeaten run as they fell to their first defeat of the season.
The result at Carrow road left the champions 5 points behind Liverpool and Pep joked at the end of the game that Liverpool were champions already- “Five points is five points, but we are in September,” the Spaniard said.
“What are we supposed to do? Say ‘it’s September and congratulations to Liverpool, you are champions?’
“Not for one second am I going to doubt my players.”
