Spurs move to hijack Man United’s deal for Regulion
Tottenham Hotspurs are looking to hijack Manchester United’s move for Sergio Regulion despite the player reportedly agreed personal terms with Red Devils.
Multiple credible sources have confirmed that the club have submitted a bid for the 23 year-old today.
Some reports claim that Spurs manager Jose Mourinho has already contacted Regulion.
Tottenham have agreed a fee with Real Madrid but they are yet to agree personal terms with the left-back.
Negotiations between Manchester United and Real Madrid were complicated because United refused to insert a buy-back or first refusal clause in Regulion’s contract.
Also, the Red Devils were reluctant to pay Madrid’s €30m asking price.
When it comes to hijacking players Mourinho is a specialist.
During his time at Chelsea, Mourinho hijacked Willian from his current team Tottenham.
He snatched John Obi Mikel from Manchester United even after the latter unveiled him.
Little did Chelsea know they’ll be victims of Mourinho’s hijacking skills.
He signed Romelu Lukaku for Manchester United despite the fact that the Belgian striker was heavily touted to join Chelsea.
Then came his last operation, he was able to convince Alexis Sanchez to join Manchester United even after the Chilean had agreed a deal with rivals Manchester City.
Can Spurs do the double?
Tottenham are attempting to bring Gareth Bale back to the Premier League.
The Welsh attacker has been out of favour at Real Madrid and manager Zidane does not see Bale as part of his team.
The 31 year-old is desperate to move away from the Spanish giants.
Spurs chairman Dany Levy has asked about the possibility of signing Bale during the negotiation for Regulion.
Should they manage to land both players, their chances of finishing in the top four this season and winning a trophy will improve significantly.
