Rohr can lead Nigeria to AFCON title: Okonkwo

Nigeria international Chibuzor Okonkwo believes Gernot Rohr can make the Super Eagles the best team on the African continent. The Super Eagles defender says that Rohr can be the right man to lead Nigeria to African glory again.

The Franco-German tactician who recently extended his contract with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) earlier this week.

Other Nigerian internationals expressed their confidence and excitement in the manager. John Ogu sends a tweet saying “Woke up to the news from @thenff that Mr Gernot Rohr remains our National team coach . Great news for our country Football . . Our Football will never fall moving forward”

Okonkwo feels Gernot Rohr deserves to keep leading the Super Eagles

With 9 apperances for the Super Eagles, Okonkwo feels that Rohr deserves a renewal of his contract.

The Kwara United defender also believes that the 66-year-old coach can win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title with the Super Eagles.

โ€œHe has been doing well and I believed he has a good team which can win trophies for Nigeria. He deserved to continue to be in charge of the Super Eagles,โ€ Okonkwo told Goal.

โ€œWinning the Africa Cup of Nations title is not a tall dream because nothing is impossible and I believe Rohr can do it for Nigeria.

Nigeria have won the AFCON title three times and the last time they won the competition was in 2013.

โ€œHe needs to bring in more experienced players to the team, although the present young players at his disposal are doing well,โ€ he added.

โ€œBut he needs to blend the team to make it competitive.โ€

Rohr guided the Super Eagles to a third-place finish at the 2019 AFCON finals which were hosted by Egypt.
