Pogba set to extend his stay at Manchester United
Paul Pogba is set to extend his contract at Manchester United in the coming weeks according to reports from England.
A little over one year ago, June 2016 to be precised, Pogba was heavily linked to some choice clubs across Europe.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and even Paris Saint-Germain were rumored to be interested in the Frenchman.
Just when fans were contemplating whether to believe the rumors or not, Paul Pogba dropped a bomb in the minefield when he said he wants a new challenge somewhere else.
“Like you said, there is a lot of talking and a lot of thinking as well. For me, I have been for three years in Manchester and have been doing great; some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody. Like everywhere else.
“After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well … I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else. I am thinking of this: to have a new challenge somewhere else.” Pogba said.
Since then, the Frenchman’s time at club has been marred with injuries and inconsistency.
His relationship with Manchester United has been affected by the ongoing saga between his agent, Mino Raiola and the club.
Some believe the United were unable to sign Erling Halaand in January due to Raiola’s astronomical agent fee demands.
Everything looks to be a tad different at the moment for all the parties involved.
The break embarked on by the Premier League due to the coronavirus pandemic allowed Pogba to return back to action just in time to help Man United’s push for a top four finish this season.
As a result of the pandemic, not too many clubs can afford to sign him anymore.
The best option for Pogba at the moment is probably to remain at
The signing of Bruno Fernandez in January breathe new life into team while Pogba was on the treatment table.
And now that he has returned, his partnership with Fernandez in the middle of the park is exciting to watch.
Paul Pogba now seem to be enjoying himself Manchester United.
Dictating play alongside Fernandez and breaking the resolve of any available opposition with intelligent plays and intricate passing.
Their combination sometimes has been unreal and now Pogba looks set to make a U-turn from his quest for a new challenge and sign a contract extension at Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer in his press briefing ahead of the Premier League Match against Aston Villa confirmed that the club wants to keep Pogba.
“Of course we want to keep the best players around the club.
“Hopefully we can do something. I know that since Paul has come back he’s looking better and better. He’s enjoying his football and let’s see where it takes us.” Solksjaer said.
Talks between Pogba and Manchester United are set to kick-start at the end of the season.
