Manchester United To Secure European Football as City Thumps Wolves

The Red Devils fell to a demoralizing 4-0 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Saturday. This further confirmed that Champions League qualification was out of reach for the Reds—however, their fears has been eased this week.

Man United’s incoming manager—Erik ten Hag, who is set to replace Ralf Rangnick at the helm at the end of this season—will be overseeing another campaign in the Europa League. Albeit, there stands a chance of the Mancunians potentially featuring a first-ever participation in the Europa Conference League.

For Wolverhampton Wanderers, losing to Manchester City means that the Midlands club can no longer overtake United in the league table. However, United might still need West Ham to drop points if they plan on taking part in the Europa League next season.

United will peak at 61 points if they win their final game against Crystal Palace but two wins out of two for David Moyes’ side will mean they finish 6th – the final Europa League place.

Ralf Rangnick’s could be set to cash in another favor from Manchester City, who face West Ham later this weekend. Should the Hammers drop points against United’s neighbours, a win against Crystal Palace would be enough to ensure Europa League qualification.
