Manchester United set to sign 18m-rated Italian forward
Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing 19-yr old Italian striker, Pietro Pellegri. The Italian youngster who is currently plays for Monaco where he moved to in 2018.
The highly rated Italian starlet would be lucky to get a fresh restart in his career at Manchester United.
Pellegri moved to Monaco at age of 16 with a record fee for a teenager at $18m from Italian side Genoa in 2018. His time as Monaco is rather discouraging despite the fact that he is touted to be one of the best youngsters at the time.
The Italian has struggled with fitness and suffered injury spells that has put him out of play and on the sidelines over the years. He has made only six appearances for the Ligue 1 side, Monaco in which he managed to score one goal.
Although having a disappointing spell at Monaco, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to give the teenager a chance to restart his career at the Theatre of Dreams. Despite his injury record, Solksjaer is willing to take his chances and gamble with the signing of the Italian forward as he looks to boost his attack ahead of the next campaign.
However, United has other attacking options in Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Odion Ighalo (currently on Loan) and Mason Greenwood. They are still interested in signing Pietro Pellegri who could be up for grabs at $18m. He could be as replacement for Ighalo if they miss out on signing him permanently.
United may also make a move for Bayer Leverkusen youngster, Kai Havertz as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to build a youth dominated squad that could challenge for the EPL title next season.
