Manchester United reaffirms its endorsement deal with Adidas as they announce the launch of a clothing range inspired by some of the most iconic Adidas Red Devils kits of the early 90s and it’s, quite honestly, a stunning piece.
The collection celebrates the golden era under Sir Alex Ferguson- albeit,30-years on, by reproducing some of the most memorable designs and moments from the club’s history. Among the pieces on sale, are revamps of the 1990/92 team shirt and goalkeeper shirt.
According to the announcement, the retro collection features nine unique pieces that pay homage to one of the greatest periods of football for the club – when the likes of Eric Cantona, Bryan Robson, Peter Schmeichel and Ryan Giggs graced the Old Trafford turf – each garment is completed with a vintage club crest and Adidas Originals Trefoil logo as part of the collaboration.
Speaking on the Manchester United retro collection, a member of the Adidas team said:
“We wanted to perfectly capture the essence of the early ’90s. We delved deep into our archives and drew a lot of inspiration from magazine sales catalogues from those years and their unique aesthetic and vibe.
“Our partnership with the club goes back a long way, so we wanted to take the opportunity to really reflect on some of that history and bring a small piece of the heritage to the modern day with a retro collection that celebrates the relationship and culture that surrounds it.”
The collection also includes a classic Manchester United Red retro shirt, two-piece Superstar tracksuit, and a number of casual garments (t-shirts and sweaters) that bear an archive-inspired Fred The Red graphic, amongst other key pieces.
The Manchester United Adidas Originals X collection launches today and is exclusively available now on the Adidas website and official club stores.
