Juventus defender De Ligt undergo shoulder operation
Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt is set for a spell on the sidelines after undergoing an operation on his shoulder.
The Netherland international will not feature for the Old Ladies for the next couple of months.
According to reports, the 21-year old has had recurring problems with his right shoulder since he dislocated it last year.
The Turin based side confirmed that the operation was successful but De Ligt will most likely miss the start of next season.
When will Serie A resume?
As of now it is unknown when the Serie A will kickoff but the Italian Football Federation are reportedly looking to return on September 1.
If plans to return early next month are successful, Juventus will begin their quest for a tenth consecutive Serie A title without Matthijs de Ligt.
Newly appointed manager Andrea Pirlo will be looking to start his era on a high.
But first he needs to find a suitable replacement for his €75m defender in the heart of Juve’s defence.
