COVID-19 cripples Ajax ahead of UCL clash with Midtjylland
Ajax will be without 11 first-team players for their UCL game against Midtjylland on Tuesday.
The Dutch giants didn’t officially release names of infected players but local media sources have mentioned a few.
First choice goalkeeper Andre Onana and are said to have tested positive to the virus.
Dusan Tadic and Davy Klaassen are another important duo who will be missing in action tomorrow.
In total Ajax will be without the services of 11 players from their first-team squad.
But manager Erik ten Hag has drawn up a 17-man list for their trip to Midtjylland.

Kjell Scherpen, Perr Schuurs, Noussair Mazraoui, Daley Blind, Lisandro Martinez, Nicolas Tagliafico, Sean Klaiber, Jurrien Timber, Edson Alvarez, Jurgen Ekkelenkamp, David Neres, Antony, Quincy Promes, Lassina Traore, Klass-Jan Huntelaar, Brian Brobbey, Victor Jensen.
Although the 17-man Ajax squad have travelled to Norway but another test will be carried out in the coming hours.
If the results return negatives, the ruled-out players will be allowed to join their teammates provided they get the go-ahead from UEFA.
The virus has left Erik ten Hag’s team lightweight especially in the goalkeeping position.
This is coming at the worst possible time for Ajax – they need a good result against Midtjylland to have any hopes of making it to the next round.
